Milan-based brand Kartell sets up shop in WA

Milan-based homeware brand Kartell arrived in Perth early last month.

These days, arrivals from Italy to Australia have been few and far between; but there was much excitement amongst Italophiles, big spenders and homeware lovers; when Milan-based homeware brand Kartell arrived in Perth earlier this month.

As part of a store-within-a-store concept, the highly sought-after homeware brand is now stocked at Trilogy Furniture in Claremont, Western Australia. The 120 square metre store houses the entire Kartell Range and boasts the largest collection of Kartell pieces in Australia.

The extensive range includes eclectic and unique items ranging from lighting to tableware, glassware, chairs, storage units, step ladders, vases and much more.

Trilogy Managing Director, Tyler Formica, has been campaigning to get the highly coveted brand, Kartell on board in Perth since mid 2019 and convinced a company representative to make a detour to Western Australia where a deal was eventually set in motion.

"“Kartell's design, durability, versatility and functionality is perfectly suited to our climate and lifestyle', explains Formica. "“Aesthetically, it lends itself to both contemporary and classical styles and integrates seamlessly into both. It's also a family business with a rich European history and, importantly, the brand has a great emphasis on sustainability. It also has a very accessible price point for a luxury European brand, which is great news for people of all budgets".

Established in Milan in 1949, Kartell is one of the most iconic furniture and homewares brands. Kartell was acquired by Claudio Luti in 1988, after he wrapped up a decade as Managing Director of Italian fashion house, Versace. Luti and has children continue to run the company to this day and Kartell has grown from strength to strength thanks to the brands many collaborations with designers and architects including Phillippe Starck, Ron Arad, Antonio Citterio, Ferruccio Laviani, Piero Lissoni, Particia Urquiola, Mario Bellini, Alberto Media and Vico Magistretti.

"“Kartell always had good exhibitions in the Eastern Australia, and we were looking to find a strong partnership in the West too. A partnership that could really represent the lifestyle spirit of the brand not only the items. says Kartell's Commercial Director on choosing Perth and Trilogy to house the largest collection of the brand in Australia. "“Luckily, we managed to meet with (the) Trilogy family in Perth and then in Europe before the pandemic. These meetings gave us the chance to mutually share the positive values of both companies and families. I'm very glad for this new opening and confident that it will be just the beginning of a long-lasting partnership."
