Dr Teresa De Fazio, OAM awarded "Calabrese of the Year" 2021

Segmento Magazine and the Italian Community of Melbourne are proud to announce that our Editor in Chief, Dr Teresa De Fazio AOM has been awarded "Calabrese of the Year" 2021.

The Calabrese Award of the Year organized by the Acca (Australian Calabrese Cultural Association) took place on Saturday in Melbourne (Australia). The recognition for the year 2021, delivered by the president Vincenzo Morfuni, went to Segmento's Editor in Chief Dr Teresa De Fazio, AOM.

Numerous participants in the initiative, including the Deputy elected in Australia Nicola Carਠand the Consultor of the Calabria Region Vince Daniele. The Acca is one of the most active associations in the world for the promotion of Calabria.

The association chaired by Morfuni, over the years has delivered several initiatives to the community including establishing  a student exchange between Calabria and Australia with the Unical of Cosenza and the University of Melbourne.

Who is Dr Teresa De Fazio?

Dr Teresa De Fazio, AOM

Dr. Teresa De Fazio has over 25 years of experience in various academic and management roles which have always focussed on ensuring a positive and inclusive learner and staff experience. Her employment history includes industry and university teacher training, academic development, languages pedagogy, intercultural competence training, student engagement, mentoring, online learning and teaching pedagogy, curriculum renewal and development.

Dr. De Fazio is also an active community member and Board Director participating actively to ensure opportunity and social connection through various activities. A passionate advocate for multiculturalism, she was appointed as Commissioner for the Victorian Multicultural Commission for two terms by the Victorian Government. Her training and resource development work spans academia, the community sector, corporate entities and state Governments. Teresa has worked as a consultant on a range of projects and initiatives and enjoys the challenge of consultancy work.

Dr Teresa De Fazio on a Vespa!

Dr De Fazio has worked in educational leadership at various universities across Australia and has overseen a range of projects focused on multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and diversity, educational development, mentoring and leadership.

As Manager of Cultural Diversity at Victoria University she oversaw the University Cultural Diversity Strategy, which is a University-wide commitment to inclusive intercultural engagement through all aspects of the University experience.

Dr De Fazio also served two terms as a Commissioner of the Victorian Multicultural Commission.
