Gianfranco Serpelloni

"I knocked on your door but you weren’t there"

The everyday look of landscapes, of simple objects, twisted iron wires, etc. I see them all as film sets. It has become instinctive, and I have to say that with the iPhone always available it’s not difficult for me to get many ideas during the day without having to program organise outings.

They were four shots taken with an iPhone, born casually and due to my endemic negligence. One morning I had to go and see a loved one whom I couldn’t find at home. So I went out with all my professional gear. Cameras, lenses and tripod. I studied the shot and set up the framing and equipment, then I realised the batteries weren’t charged. I then decided to use the iPhone instead and took the first two photos. The road and the high voltage wires were the first two shots. I've always liked the soft atmosphere that you breathe in the countryside, in the days of fog that transmit that sense of emptiness and ancestral insecurity. It has always fascinated me.

Bio

Gianfranco Serpelloni

Born in Verona on 21/09/1957

Profession: "entrepreneur"

Passionate about photography since 1975.

I have participated in just a few exhibitions out of laziness, and also because I don’t like to expose myself.

Perhaps the most important was my participation at ExpoArte in Bari in the early 90s, with about ten works dedicated to the sea.

This experience in Melbourne, with about 20,000 km of distance separating us, seems a good opportunity to overcome my fears.

Art, if it can be defined as such, has enabled me to survive in a world that’s not mine.

The everyday look of landscapes, of simple objects, twisted iron wires, etc. I see them all as film sets. It has become instinctive, and I have to say that with the iPhone always available it’s not difficult for me to get many ideas during the day without having to program organise outings. I've never been a lover of excessive photographic technique. I prefer to seize the moment when I feel it.
